You have 3,000 bananas and a camel that can carry 1,000 bananas at a time. You need to transport the bananas to a market 1,000 miles away. The camel eats 1 banana per mile traveled (whether going forward or returning). What’s the maximum number of bananas you can get to the market?

💡 Hint

You need to establish depots along the way. Each mile the camel travels costs 1 banana. When you have more than 2,000 bananas, it takes 5 trips per mile. Between 1,000 and 2,000, it takes 3 trips. Under 1,000, just 1 trip.
