💡 Hint

Start by weighing 4 vs 4. The tricky part is what to do if they balance (the counterfeit is in the remaining 4) vs. if they don’t balance (the counterfeit is in one of the 8 on the scale).

📅 Yesterday’s Puzzle (18 June 17) — Answer

Puzzle: The Poisoned Wine — 1,000 bottles, 1 poisoned, 10 prisoners, 24 hours.

✅ Answer: Use binary encoding. Number bottles 0-999. Each prisoner drinks from bottles where their bit = 1. After 24 hours, the binary pattern of dead prisoners = the poisoned bottle number. 10 prisoners = 1,024 combinations, enough for 1,000 bottles.
